Our Story: Where the Past Meets the Present (and a Little Bit of Magic Happens)
It all started with a house, a house with more stories than a library and more heart than a Hallmark movie. The Spencer-Dayton House, standing tall at 37701 Meridian Ave in Dade City, FL, isn’t just a charming piece of architecture, it’s the spark that brought us together.
We’re a quirky, fun bunch united by a simple, stubborn belief: history isn’t just something you read about; it’s something you live, breathe, and pass on. One sunny afternoon (with a little too much sweet tea and a lot of dreaming), we realized that our town’s stories—its triumphs, heartbreaks, and everyday wonders—were at risk of fading away.
That’s when the Dade City History Center was born. Not with fanfare, but with rolled-up sleeves, a few determined volunteers, and a mission:
To educate and preserve history and heritage in a charitable manner, inspiring communities to value and protect our shared past.
We’re here because we believe that every time worn board, every well placed brick in the Spencer-Dayton House, every photograph in a dusty attic, and every memory shared on a front porch matters.
Our vision? To be a cornerstone of historical education and preservation in our region—fostering community engagement, lifelong learning, and stewardship of local heritage.
We’re not just about old things, we’re about the stories that make Dade City, well, Dade City. We’re here for the curious, the nostalgia, the proud, and the future generations who deserve to know where they come from.
